What to Expect During Your First Studio Photoshoot
Never had a professional photoshoot before?
You might be wondering:
What do I do?
Where do I stand?
What should I wear?
What if I don't know how to pose?
Don't worry.
Most people don't know what to expect before their first professional studio session.
Here's what you can expect when you book a studio photoshoot in Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha.
Before the session
Before you arrive, we'll discuss what you're looking for from your photographs.
You might already have an idea.
Maybe you've seen a particular style online.
Maybe you want professional portraits.
Maybe you want something creative.
Or maybe you have absolutely no idea.
That's okay too.
We can work out the direction together.
Arriving at the studio
When you arrive, the first thing is to settle in.
There is no need to immediately jump in front of the camera.
We'll go through the plan and make sure you are comfortable.
Choosing your outfit
If you're bringing different outfits, we'll decide which looks work best with the planned lighting and style.
Different outfits can completely change the feel of a portrait.
Getting in front of the camera
This is where many people get nervous.
You don't need to worry about knowing how to pose.
I'll guide you.
I'll tell you where to stand, where to look, how to position your body and what to do with your hands.
We'll make small adjustments throughout the session.
We'll try different looks
A good session shouldn't produce 30 photographs that all look identical.
We'll experiment with:
Different poses
Different expressions
Different angles
Different lighting
Different crops
Colour
Black and white
This gives you variety in your final photographs.
You'll probably relax as we go
It's completely normal to feel awkward during the first few photographs.
Then something usually happens.
You start getting comfortable.
You understand the direction.
You see a photograph you like.
And suddenly you're enjoying the session.
After the photoshoot
Once the session is complete, your photographs will be professionally selected and edited.
The final images are then delivered through an online gallery.
You can view, download and share your photographs.
The most important thing to remember
You don't have to be photogenic.
You don't have to know how to pose.
You don't have to be confident when you arrive.
That's part of my job.
My goal is to create an environment where you can relax, be yourself and enjoy the experience.
